How I got 8 pints of Fannie May ice cream for FREE

Thank you to couponerswanted.com for teaching me something I didn't know:

When an item is on sale BOGO, and you have a BOGO coupon, you get BOTH ITEMS FOR FREE.
You ring up both items, the machine registers one at $4.99 and the second at $0.
Your coupon deducts $4.99 (the FREE one you get from the coupon)
End result: BOTH are FREE.

So I had 2q's = 4 free pints!!

***UPDATE: There are supposed to be BOGO q's in the Tribune this Sunday (buy your paper at the Dollar Store TODAY for $1 and get some extra q's, or get from friends. I've now gotten 8 free pints of ice cream from Jewel!!***

Happy Birthday to Me!

Nothing like saving money on my B-Day!

hee hee hee!!!

My haul at Jewel: 96% Savings + Moneymaker

Big THANK YOU to couponerswanted.com!!

I struck out today with mom (visiting from SC and a fellow super couponer) for a little trip to Jewel.

Total cost out of pocket for all of this: $4

Here's the deal:

4 bottles of Arm and Hammer: $6 (2/$5 sale minus $4 in $1/1 printables)

10 bottles of select Dove shampoos and conditioners: $2 in overage
(double dipping two catalinas at Jewel (unilever buy $30 get $15, and Jewel spend $30 get back $12). Buy 5 spend $22.46 (plus tax) preferred price rings $30.46. You get back $27 in coupons for your next order. That means I spent $52 on ten bottles(includes tax) and got $54 back in coupons toward my next order.

That makes this a MONEY MAKER. I learned there are $1/1 coupons for Dove here, so print these and make it an even better deal.

Dove special good till 8/2 only on the following (good luck finding these). They are regularly $6.99 on sale for $4.99:

7940020680 DOVE GO FRESH THERAPY COOL MOISTURE SHAMPOO CUCUMBER & GREEN TEA 25.4 OZ
7940020681 DOVE GO FRESH THERAPY COOL MOISTURE HAIR CONDITIONER CUCUMBER & GREEN T#1 25.4 OZ

Arm and Hammer coupons: 32 loads for $1.50!!!

Jewel is having a super three day sale on laundry detergent. Arm and Hammer is regularly 2 for $17 for the big 32 load bottles. For three days starting Thursday get 2 bottles for $5 (limit 2) and use two $1/1 coupons to make them 2 for $3. That's $1.50 for 32 loads of laundry.

Now, I went to the Armandhammer.com site to try to get these coupons and they wouldn't work. I got a blank screen. My mom printed them from sotuhernsavers.com.

Go to Southernsavers.comSelect Harris Teeter
Scroll down till you see their Arm and Hammer sale
Click the printable coupon link
This WORKED for me.
I was able to print 2 $1/1 coupons. My dad also printed two for me.

TODAY ONLY: Dr Pepper Double Dip at Jewel

There isn't much time to take advantage of this one....overlapping catalina deals at Jewel.

Buy nine 6-packs of Dr. Pepper in bottles (these are the ones on sale for $1.77 per 6 pack). You must buy at least two flavors for this promo. You'll ring up at $15 and change for the nine 6-packs and you'll get back $25 in coupons OYNO!

I hear a lot of stores are completely out of Dr. Pepper. Even if you don't drink soda, and I only have an occasional diet soda, you are making almost $10 just buying the stuff. Donate to a food pantry if you'd like!

TGIF coupon: $5 off everyone's entree!

Use the coupon above to save $5 on everyone's entree at your table. Excludes kids meals, appetizers and desserts. Good for parties up to 10 people.

UPDATED: We used this tonight and they took off $15. They should have taken off only $5 but the waiter counted the kids meals.

Super Saturday Savings

I hit up the Jewel this morning before lunch. I thought the store would be packed but the weather is lovely today and everyone must have been outside enjoying it!

I took advantage of the Dr. Pepper catalina deal: 5 cases of 12 cans of Diet Dr. Pepper. OOP $13.50. Got my $10 OYNO catalina.

Took that to the car and turned around and super stocked up. We've been entertaining house guests for three weeks, including a week of vacation out of state, and my parents arrive tomorrow. It was a BIG trip for me. I saved over $81 in coupons and sales and catalinas, plus got another $10 cat for buying 5 Keebler cookies (used 2 $1 off coupons, and they were on sale) and also $5 instant off for buying three Kelloggs items (bought the pop tarts since they were also on sale).

Did you have a great deal this weekend to share? This is my first ever Mr. Linky and I am frankly amazed I figured out how to get it to work the first time. Just copy and paste the link to your blog page sharing the deals you found. This is family friendly, and inappropriate links will be removed. Happy Sharing!

Do you like Dr. Pepper? Do you like the store paying you to drink it?

Jewel is having a catalina deal right now on Dr. Pepper products. Spend $20 and get a $10 coupon for your next purchase. Here's a deal I am going to do:

12 packs of diet Dr. Pepper are on sale with preferred card for $2.75 (must buy at least 4 for this price). 5 packs based on current shelf price ($4.58) = $22.90 but you pay out of pocket only the preferred card price of $13.75 (5 x $2.75) and get a $10 coupon.

Then buy 5 more packs, pay with the $10 coupon you just got, spending only $3.75 out of pocket, and get ANOTHER $10 coupon.

That's 10 12-packs of diet soda costing you only $7.50 out of pocket.

Sweet!

Thank you couponerswanted.com!!!

Back to School Deals from Walgreens

Thank you to Common Sense with Money for gathering these. See her site for many more cool deals. I sincerely envy all you moms who gather this data for us all.

I don't know about your kids, but I seem to send my two off to school at the beginning of the year with about 50 types of school supplies each, and at the end of the year get a HUGE bag of these SAME supplies sent home, unused.

This drives me nuts! What a waste of everyone's time and money to buy these things specifically requested, only to never use them. Case in point: expandable velcro closing file folders. I had to buy two for my daughter. She never used either one. Can't return them. Or "48 pencils" when they never use more than 5 or 6 the entire year. Sure, I can and do recycle school supplies (you don't need a new ruler or scissors every year, and a glue stick still works if you used it twice), but THREE 3" binders? Who is going to need/want these?

Caveat emptor!

Giant houseplants

Do you have a plant in your home that is taking over? I do. His name is Mr. Ficus.

About three years ago we moved into our new home and I decided we needed a real tree in our living room, not a silk. I knew that a ficus could be tempermental, so I wasn't about to spend a lot of money on one, only to have it drop dead within weeks. I happened up a for sale ad in our work newspaper. A 7 foot ficus for only $3o. I couldn't resist.

After a few months of learning the ficus ropes (the right kind of water mix, the right food, not making direct eye contact with the sensitive plant) Mr. Ficus THRIVED. In fact, he has gotten so big now that I am seriously considering repotting him. Into a 28" diameter pot!

I think when we move the tree will have to stay. Or go to a shopping mall. Either one.

Last fall Mr. Ficus took off. There is now a 4 foot "shoot" off the top, aiming for the top window. The bottom of that half round is 12 feet high.

In some sort of Darwinian survival of the fittest (aside: that isn't what Darwin said...but I digress) this bad boy has made a move to be at the top of the canopy in my one tree forest.
Do we continue to luv the ficus or reign him in? Nature or nuture? Only the hardest questions arise in my house!

I'm baaaack!

Back from a wonderful week in Wisconsin. I've got ten loads of laundry, a trip to the grocery store to do, and run and get my daughter's hair trimmed.

I feel coupon DEPRIVED as we didn't get the Sunday paper and I have NO IDEA what is on sale at the Jewel!

You will all be proud of me that I got a preferred card from Pick N' Save where we were at and saved around $40 in groceries using it (and no, they didn't automatically offer it to you if you didn't have one).

What Jewel deals am I missing? Someone tell me quick!
